Autologous Stem Cell Treatment
Autologous Stem Cells refers to using the patient’s own cells for regenerative treatment.
In the procedure, the patient’s own bone marrow is extracted from the iliac crest and then centrifuged (spun at high speed) and the bone marrow concentrate (known as mesenchymal stem cells) is then transplanted into the arthritic knee joints.
The patient pictured in the images below had osteoarthritis in her knees and was hesitant to undergo surgery after two problematic shoulder replacements. She resigned her self to living with the pain and lack of mobility until after researching Stem Cell treatment, she found Dr Nadkarni and booked in for the appointment with next to no wait time.
All the aspects of the procedure were explained to her and she said she was put at ease and felt very comfortable throughout the whole process. This was all done as a walk in walk, walk out procedure under local anaesthetic within two hours and she experienced no pain.
The patient was delighted with the results, particularly that she was mobile and able to mind her grandchildren only one week after the procedure.
