Dr Gerard Goh is the current President of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australia (IRSA).  Dr Goh is an Interventional Radiologist at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and is leading the speciality into an exciting future. Keep up the good work Gerard and I look forward to catching up with you and your colleagues at APSCVIR ( Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology ) in Auckland next week.

Dr Nadkarni at the 1st Biobridge Asia Pacific Conference on PRP ( Platelet Rich Plasma ) with key note speaker Dr Stanley Lam from Hong Kong .

Stanley is a pioneer and expert in hydro dissection of nerves and tendons using PRP.

For those of you who are not aware there has been a revolution in the development of regenerative biological therapies for the treatment of degenerative and inflammatory conditions .

I have been using it in my practice since it’s inception . For properly selected patients and good rehab programmes following treatment the results are good . The evidence base is growing and experts like Stanley are educating other physicians in the various applications.

This is Dr Wayne Yakes all the way from Texas.

He is one of the world authorities on the treatment of Vascular Malformations. He has his own take on the classification of Arterio Venous Malformations, “The Yakes Classification.”

I had the pleasure of presenting with him to a group of interventional radiologists in Melbourne just over a week ago. I spoke on the Penumbra Aspiration Thrombectomy Device and he spoke on the Yakes Classification and the management of AVM’s. – Dr Sanjay Nadkarni

World Congress of Phlebology – Dr Mark Meissner

I caught up with Dr Mark Meissner , an eminent vascular surgeon from Seattle at the recent UIP (World Congress of Phlebology).

Dr Meissner has been instrumental in making Pelvic Congestion Syndrome more recognisable amongst Doctors and Specialists and is considered one of the world authorities on the subject.

I really enjoy listening to his presentations and we share some common thoughts on the definitions and management of Pelvic Venous Disorders – Dr Sanjay Nadkarni

GP Education Evening

Endovascular WA recently hosted an Educational Evening for local referring Doctors at Chez Pierre Restaurant in Nedlands.

Dr Nadkarni presented a detailed talk on evidence based procedural management of pain, varicose veins and arteries featuring some of the equipment used. The attending Doctors enjoyed the talk, asking various questions regarding treatment and other facets of Interventional Radiology.

It was also a great opportunity to catch up with fellow colleagues over a delicious meal.

Dr Nadkarni at the Mundella EveryWoman Expo

Last weekend saw the EveryWoman Expo, Perth’s largest lifestyle event take place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This year, the Expo celebrated its nineteenth year with over 250 exhibitors featuring health, beauty, fashion and food.

The Bodhi’s Bakehouse Celebrity Kitchen in support of The Heart Foundation was a highlight, where Dr Sanjay Nadkarni and son Akshay, joined other Heart Foundation Ambassadors to share their favourite recipes. Dr Nadkarni took to the stage and discussed the importance of raising awareness of heart disease through early detection.

The Heart Foundation fund lifesaving heart research, and work to improve heart disease prevention and care for all Australians. Early detection is key, with the EveryWoman Expo raising awareness and the importance of early recognition and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Dr Sanjay Nadkarni and Endovascular WA were thrilled to be involved with The Heart Foundation and the Mundella EveryWoman Expo and we look forward to next year’s Expo!
